What DeepDiggr is
DeepDiggr turns public catalogue metadata into a searchable, navigable graph of artists, releases, and tracks, letting you trace the collaborations, labels, and credits behind records.
01 Not a complete mirror of Discogs
DeepDiggr is not a complete mirror of Discogs. Discogs contains millions of self-released uploads and low-context releases that can introduce a lot of noise when exploring artist connections.
To keep the graph useful, DeepDiggr uses heuristics to filter out many of these cases for example, self-released uploads without much information. This can occasionally exclude legitimate releases, but the goal is not 100% completeness, it is to surface meaningful connections and discoveries.
02 What's covered today
The current graph contains roughly 3M releases and 18M tracks, including both digital and physical releases. For now, only releases with at least one of the following genres have been extracted:
- Electronic
- Funk / Soul
- Jazz
- Hip Hop
- Latin
- Reggae
If a release is missing, it's usually one of two reasons: the release format wasn't imported (for example, low-context self-released uploads), or its genre isn't among those listed above yet.
03 A sample, not the whole database
DeepDiggr also works from a sample of solo tracks (tracks with no credit, and therefore no collaborator) rather than importing every recording tied to every artist, so not all of Discogs can be found inside the application. The aim is to prioritize useful, explorable connections over having an exhaustive Discogs mirror.
04 Why some credits don't match the Discogs release page
When the same track appears on multiple releases (a reissue, a compilation, a remaster), DeepDiggr treats it as one track and aggregates its credits across all of those releases. A credit means someone is listed as a contributor to that track on any release it appears on, not necessarily the specific release you clicked through from. That's why the credits you see in DeepDiggr can include names that aren't printed on the Discogs page for that particular release.
05 Data attribution
Catalogue metadata used by DeepDiggr is derived from the Discogs database, made available by Discogs under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal public domain dedication. DeepDiggr is an independent project and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Discogs or Zink Media, LLC.
